Tukums Museum, Tukums, Latvia

July 18, 2025 through July 12, 2026

This exhibition focuses on the traditions of Jews who lived in Tukums, Latvia (Courland) during the latter half of the 19th century. The particular focus is on the Blumenfeld and Klatsov family from Tukums, members of which emigrated to America in 1883/1884.

The Tukums Museum has long studied the history of its hometown and curated exhibitions about various topics, but this is the first time that the focus is on the Jewish community. Included in the exhibit are excerpts from the Diary, both in English and translated into Latvian, and photographs illustrating locations from the story, as well as some objects of the time from the Tukums Museum, Talsi Local History Museum, Latvian Jewish Museum (Riga), History Museum of Minor Lithuania (Klaipeda), and Gargždai (Lithuania) Regional Museum.

FindingDavidBlumenfeld.com would like to extend our grateful thanks to Agrita Ozola, Director of the Tukums Museum, for her diligence and passion in putting together this exhibit.
